# Managing members

> Invite people, give them the right role and client access, and remove them cleanly when they leave.

Members are the people in your org who use Adopt. As an admin, you control who they are, what role they hold, and which clients they can reach.

## Inviting a member

1. In admin settings, invite the person by email.
2. Assign a **role** (see [Roles and permissions](/security-access/roles-and-permissions)).
3. Grant access to the **clients (workstreams)** they need. Access is per client — being a member of the org doesn't reveal any client by itself.

## Changing roles or access

Update someone's role as their responsibilities change, and add or remove client access as they move between engagements. Prefer the narrowest access that fits the job.

## Deprovisioning

When someone leaves:

1. Remove them from all workstreams (revokes client access).
2. Reassign any engagements where they were a reviewer, so the HITL gate isn't left without a reviewer.
3. Disable or remove their account per your org's process.

<Tip>
  Run a **periodic access review** — quarterly or annually — of who has access to what. It's good hygiene and often a compliance requirement. Look for people with access to clients they no longer work on, and roles broader than needed.
</Tip>
