# Your first run

> Go from nothing to a live, reviewable piece of work in about ten minutes, using the guided Quick setup.

Adopt's **Quick setup** is three steps. It hides the platform plumbing and leads with the outcome — so you can see real prepared work in about ten minutes. (Builders who want the full control surface should use Advanced setup instead — see [Quick setup vs Advanced setup](/builder-guide/quick-vs-advanced-setup).)

## Before you start

You'll need an Adopt account and access to the documents you want the work prepared from — a folder you can upload, or a Google Drive / SharePoint location you can connect.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Pick what you need done">
    On the getting-started screen, choose a **task template** rather than starting from a blank agent:

    * R\&D Tax Credit
    * Transfer Pricing
    * Month-End Close
    * Reconciliations
    * Custom (describe your own)

    Choosing a template sets up the agent, its instructions, and the right capabilities automatically. You'll see a plain-language summary of what it will do, plus an optional box to add a specific instruction — for example, *"always include a summary memo for the partner."*
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the client and its files">
    * **Client name** — the client this work is for. Each client is kept completely separate; no one working on another client can see this data.
    * **Add files** — drag documents in, or connect Google Drive or SharePoint. Payroll registers, project logs, PDFs, and spreadsheets are all fine.
    * **Who can see this client** — invite the people who should have access. Access is set here, once.

    You can add files now or later; leaving it empty won't block you.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review and go live">
    * **Preview** shows a sample of the prepared work, drawn from the client's files. You'll see the review-gate reminder: nothing is final until you approve it.
    * **Cadence** — choose how often it runs, in plain terms: once now, monthly, quarterly, or at period close.
    * Press **Go live**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

That's it. The agent runs on the cadence you chose, prepares the work, and holds it in your review queue.

## What happens next

When a run finishes, the prepared work lands in your **review queue** and you're notified (if [notifications](/end-user-guide/notifications) are set up). You open it, check it, and either approve it or send it back with notes.

<Tip>
  Start with a single client and a template you know well. Once you've watched one run through review end to end, the rest of Adopt makes far more sense.
