# Sync problems

> When connected files don't show up or look out of date, work through these in order.

When connected files don't show up or look stale, work through these in order — top to bottom catches the vast majority of cases.

## Files aren't appearing

* **Did the sync run?** A one-time connect doesn't keep pulling. Run a sync (or set a scheduled one). See [Sync settings and filters](/builder-guide/sync-settings-and-filters).
* **Are they filtered out?** Check your include/exclude patterns — the files may be excluded by a pattern or outside the included folder.
* **Right client?** Confirm you're looking at the Doc Store for the correct workstream.

## Files are stale

* A scheduled sync may not have run since the file changed. Trigger a fresh sync.
* For fast-moving folders, schedule the sync to run shortly **before** the agent's run so files are current.

## The connection stopped working

* Credentials to the source can expire or be revoked at the source system. **Reconnect** the connector.
* Choose the most privacy-preserving reconnection option offered.

## Nothing syncs at all

* Confirm the connector points at a location that actually contains files (correct folder, library, or bucket prefix).
* Confirm the source account still has access to that location.
* If it still fails, capture details and raise with an admin or Adopt support.
